The OSG 1757201 is a spiral point plug tap designed for cutting internal threads in a wide range of difficult-to-machine materials. Built from powdered metal and finished with a steam oxide coating, it produces 6-32 UNC threads with a 2B class of fit. The three-flute spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cut, keeping the flutes clear and reducing the risk of chip packing in through-hole applications. With an overall length of 2.0 inches and a thread length of 0.688 inches, this tap is sized for standard machine tapping operations. The H3 thread limit provides controlled tolerance suitable for 2B fit requirements. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical trade professionals as well as machinists will find this tap suited for production and repair tapping work.
This tap is intended for use in through-hole tapping applications across a broad range of materials including hardened steel, stainless steel, high-nickel alloy, titanium, alloy steel, and die steel. The plug chamfer — typically 3 to 5 lead threads — makes it well suited for machine tapping where the tap enters a clean, pre-drilled hole and chips can be pushed through. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines in production and maintenance environments.
Designed for tapping 6-32 UNC through holes in hardened steel, stainless steel, high-nickel alloy, titanium, alloy steel, and die steel. Suitable for use with standard 0.141-inch shank tap holders and collets sized for this shank diameter.
This tap should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with tapping procedures and speeds. Always use the appropriate cutting fluid or tapping lubricant for the material being threaded. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned before operation. Do not exceed recommended spindle speeds for the material and tap size to avoid breakage.
