The OSG 1753808 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading 3/4-10 UNC right-hand threads in demanding materials including alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys. Built from powdered metal with a TICN coating, it delivers extended tool life in tough-material applications where standard HSS taps wear prematurely. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. With a 15-degree helix angle and 4 flutes, chip evacuation is directed upward out of the hole, reducing the risk of chip packing in interrupted or deep-blind applications. Overall length is 4.25 inches. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the typical installers.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where 3/4-10 UNC threads are required in hard or exotic materials. The modified bottoming chamfer makes it appropriate for blind-hole applications where full thread engagement near the hole bottom is required. The TICN coating reduces friction and improves wear resistance when running in stainless steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys. It is used in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and drill press setups with appropriate tapping attachments. The H3 thread limit suits general-purpose fits in medium-tolerance applications.
Designed for 3/4-10 UNC blind-hole tapping operations in alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloy workpieces. Part of the OSG EXOTAP Series 313.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC rigid-tapping cycle. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is properly aligned before engaging the tap. Apply appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil for the workpiece material — this tap does not use coolant-through delivery. Back the tap out periodically on manual operations to break and clear chips, and never force a tap that has stalled in the hole.
