The OSG 1753301 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 7/16-20 UNF right-hand internal threads in demanding materials. Built from powdered metal and finished with a steam oxide coating, it handles alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloys. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral design evacuates chips up and out of the hole during tapping, making it well suited for blind-hole applications. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a hole. With a helix angle of 15 degrees and an H3 thread limit, this tap holds tight tolerances in production and job-shop environments. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals using a tapping head, CNC machining center, or manual tap wrench.
The OSG 1753301 Series 313 tap is intended for threading blind holes in ferrous and exotic workpiece materials where chip control is critical. Its modified bottoming chamfer and spiral flute geometry make it a practical choice when thread depth must approach the bottom of a blind bore. The H3 tolerance class suits standard UNF fastener fits in general manufacturing, aerospace component work, and maintenance repair operations where 7/16-20 threaded holes are required.
Designed for cutting 7/16-20 UNF right-hand threads in alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high-nickel alloy workpieces. Compatible with standard 7/16 tap holders, CNC tapping heads, and manual tap wrenches accepting a 0.242-inch square drive.
This tap is installed by machinists using a tapping head, rigid CNC holder, or manual tap wrench. Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and ensure the pilot hole diameter is correct for the 7/16-20 UNF thread form. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when tapping stainless steel, titanium, or high-nickel alloys. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use to avoid thread damage or tap breakage.
