The OSG 17511611 is a cobalt extra-length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling in ferrous metals, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, and other tough materials. Built to Series 1750 standards, it features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) straight-cylindrical shank, a 120-degree standard point angle, and OSG WXL finish for improved heat resistance and tool life. The 2-flute spiral design with fast spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during extended-depth cuts. This is a high-performance M6K cobalt grade tool suited for production environments where standard-length drills cannot reach the required depth.
This bit is used in metalworking and fabrication applications that require drilling beyond the reach of jobber-length tooling. Typical applications include deep-hole drilling in structural steel, die components, mold bases, and heavy-plate assemblies. The extra overall length of 280 millimeters (approximately 11.02 inches) with a 200-millimeter (approximately 7.87 inch) flute length makes it appropriate for setups on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines where extended reach is required. It is installed and operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals working in industrial and manufacturing environments.
Designed as an extra-length replacement or production drill bit for use in standard 7/16 inch straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders on drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck or collet is properly cleaned before seating the shank. Confirm the shank is fully engaged in the chuck or collet to the appropriate grip depth before beginning any cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to manage heat, since this bit does not include through-coolant capability.
