The OSG 1750001 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting internal threads in a variety of ferrous materials. It produces a 1/2-13 UNC right-hand thread to a 2B class of fit and is manufactured from vanadium high-speed steel with a steam oxide coating for improved lubricity and wear resistance. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. With a 45-degree helix angle, the spiral flute geometry pulls chips up and out of the hole, making this tap well suited for interrupted cuts and stringy materials. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This tap is engineered for use in stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. The H7 thread limit provides the controlled oversize needed to produce consistent 2B fits after plating or finishing operations where required. With an overall length of 3.375 inches and a thread length of 0.614 inches, it fits standard tap holders and CNC rigid-tapping chucks used in production and job-shop environments. The Series 303 designation places it within OSG's general-purpose spiral flute line.
Rated for use in stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for standard 1/2-13 UNC spiral flute taps in the OSG Series 303 line.
This tap is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, or CNC setup personnel using a standard tap wrench, T-handle, or rigid-tapping chuck. Power down or disengage the machine spindle before loading or unloading the tap. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material — sulfurized oil is commonly used for carbon steel and stainless steel. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use; a damaged tap can seize in the hole and require extraction.
