The OSG 1664500811 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting 1/2-inch UNC internal threads in a wide range of workpiece materials. It operates on a CNC machining center using interpolated helical motion to produce a full thread form in a single pass. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry paired with a DUROREY coating delivers extended tool life in demanding production environments. With a 0.362-inch cutting diameter and a 3.5-inch overall length, this long-reach tool reaches into deep bores where standard thread mills cannot. Left-hand thread direction allows climb-milling of right-hand threads in the conventional interpolation direction.
This thread mill is suited for job shop and production machining applications requiring 1/2 UNC threads. The long-reach design makes it appropriate for deep-pocket threading on fixtures, housings, manifolds, and structural components. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed operation in steel, aluminum, stainless, and similar materials by flushing chips away from the cutting zone. It is installed and run by machinists and CNC programmers following standard helical interpolation routines on 3-axis or multi-axis machining centers.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation, producing 1/2-13 UNC internal threads. Compatible with standard ER or hydraulic toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter.
Install in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder that accepts a 3/8-inch shank; verify runout before cutting. Program the helical interpolation path to match the 0.362-inch cutting diameter and the thread pitch of 13 TPI. Engage coolant-through supply at the spindle before starting the cut to ensure chip evacuation throughout the 0.2308-inch length of cut. Do not use this tool for conventional drill-and-tap operations; it requires helical interpolation motion on a CNC machine.
