The OSG 1650005308 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting M10x0.75 metric fine internal threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from powdered metal with a V coating and a 45-degree helix angle, it is engineered for efficient chip evacuation in blind-hole tapping applications. The semi-bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a hole without a full bottoming tap. With a 6H class of fit and D4 thread limit, it produces threads within standard tolerance for precision assembly work. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this tap in CNC machining centers and manual tapping operations where consistent thread quality is required.
This tap is suited for use in production and job-shop environments requiring metric fine threads in materials including alloy steel, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and cast aluminum. Its right-hand flute direction and right-hand thread make it compatible with standard tapping chucks and holders. The 3-flute spiral design supports clean chip pull in short-chipping and some long-chipping materials, making it a versatile choice across a broad material range.
Designed as a direct-fit tapping tool for M10x0.75 metric fine thread applications across alloy steel, aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, hardened steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and stainless steel workpieces. Part of OSG Series 16500.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tapping procedures. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is properly aligned before engaging the tap to prevent thread galling or tap breakage. Power down or disengage the spindle before changing tooling. Coolant-through is not supported on this tap; use appropriate cutting fluid applied externally for the workpiece material being threaded.
