Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than cut it, producing stronger threads with no chip generation. This tap features a modified bottoming chamfer with 2.5 to 3 chamfered threads, allowing threading close to the bottom of blind holes. It is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, which extends tool life in demanding materials.
