The OSG 15290005 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit in Letter L size (0.2900 inches / 7.37 mm diameter), designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel. Coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN) for extended tool life and reduced friction, it features a 130-degree drill point angle and a regular spiral flute with R-thinned web geometry for improved chip evacuation and self-centering entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople who require consistent performance in demanding production or repair applications.
The OSG 15290005 is built for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through-hole applications in steel and alloy steel workpieces. The 2-flute, right-hand cutting geometry with tapered web configuration handles a variety of metal drilling scenarios in both shop and field settings. With an overall length of 4-3/4 inches and a flute length of 2-15/16 inches, this bit fits standard drill chucks and machine spindles used in CNC, manual drill press, and hand-drill operations.
Designed for drilling steel and alloy steel (Primary Workpiece Material Code: P). Fits standard 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank chucks on CNC machines, drill presses, and hand drills. Part of OSG Series 1500.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drill bit handling and machine operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant on the workpiece surface to manage heat buildup, even though coolant-through is not required by this bit design. Follow all applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting spindle speed and feed rate for the material being drilled.
