The OSG 15086005 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel applications. Sized to wire gauge No. 44 (0.0860 inches / 2.18 mm), this bit features a 130-degree split point with X-thinned web geometry for improved self-centering and reduced thrust. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating extends tool life and reduces heat buildup during extended drilling cycles. Overall length is 2-3/8 inches with a 1-1/8 inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 1/8 inch in diameter. Intended for installation by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with ferrous metals.
This drill bit is well suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through-holes in steel and alloy steel workpieces. The regular spiral flute and right-hand cut make it compatible with standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills operating in conventional drilling setups. OSG Series 1500 construction is targeted at high-performance applications where standard HSS bits fall short, particularly in harder ferrous materials where cobalt grade tooling provides a meaningful advantage in tool life and cutting consistency.
Designed for use in standard drill presses, CNC machining equipment, and hand-held power drills accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank; rated for drilling steel and alloy steel workpieces as identified by primary workpiece material code P.
This bit should be installed by a qualified machinist or technician familiar with proper drill press or CNC setup procedures. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the spindle is powered down before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or operate dry per the workpiece material requirements. Do not exceed the bit diameter tolerance range of plus 0 to minus 0.014 mm when selecting for precision-fit hole applications.
