The OSG 1410107308 is a thread forming tap designed for M3x0.50 metric coarse threading in blind hole applications. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than cut it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. This tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating and carries a D9 thread limit, making it well suited for demanding materials including hardened steel and stainless steel. With an overall length of 1.929 inches and a modified bottoming chamfer of 2 to 2.5 threads, it is used by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC machines, drill presses, and tapping fixtures.
