The OSG 1410104900 is a thread forming tap designed for cold-forming internal threads in a range of metallic workpieces without cutting or removing material. Part of the HY-PRO NRT series, this bottoming-style tap produces M10x1.50 Metric Coarse threads with a 6H class of fit and a D10 thread limit. Constructed from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright finish, it is built for demanding applications including blind hole threading in alloy steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Overall length is 2.91 inches (74.60 mm), and the tapping depth reaches 1.25 inches (31.80 mm). Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals rely on this tap for close-tolerance thread forming in production and job-shop environments.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading applications across a wide range of materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Its bottoming chamfer - featuring 1 to 1.5 chamfered threads - allows the tap to form threads as close to the bottom of a blind hole as the application requires. Right-hand thread direction is standard. The cobalt construction supports elevated cutting temperatures encountered in tougher alloys and stainless grades, making this tap an appropriate choice for both production runs and maintenance machining operations.
Designed for blind hole threading in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpieces where M10x1.50 Metric Coarse internal threads with a 6H class of fit are required.
Thread forming taps should be installed in a rigid tapping chuck or CNC tapping attachment capable of maintaining axial alignment. Power down all machine spindles and secure the workpiece before setup. Use a lubricant or cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material - especially when working with stainless or alloy steels - to reduce friction and extend tap life. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machining standards when operating tapping equipment.
