The OSG 1410104705 is a thread forming tap from the HY-PRO NRT series, designed for cold-forming internal threads without cutting. Rather than removing material, it displaces metal to produce a stronger, burr-free thread profile. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tap handles demanding applications in alloy steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and aluminum. The plug chamfer with 4 to 4.5 chamfered threads provides a gradual lead-in suitable for through-hole threading. Overall length is 2.7165 inches and tapping depth reaches 1.1260 inches, making it a capable choice for M8x1.25 metric coarse thread production.
This tap is suited for through-hole threading operations in machine shop, production, and maintenance environments where M8x1.25 metric coarse threads are required. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines. The right-hand thread direction and 6H class of fit align with standard metric fastener tolerances. Material application codes P and N confirm suitability across a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials encountered in general manufacturing and repair work.
