The OSG 1410100200 is a thread forming tap designed for creating internal metric threads without producing chips, making it well suited for blind hole threading applications. Part of the HY-PRO NRT series, this tap features a M1.7x0.35 Metric Coarse thread size with a Modified Bottoming chamfer of 2 to 2.5 threads, allowing it to thread close to the bottom of a blind hole. Constructed from cobalt with a bright finish, it offers durability and resistance to heat and wear. It carries a Class of Fit 4H with a Thread Limit of D3 and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in precision threading operations.
This tap is rated for use in a range of materials including alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel. Its thread-forming design displaces material rather than cutting it, which increases thread strength and eliminates chip removal concerns in blind hole setups. It is appropriate for both production and maintenance machining environments where small-diameter metric threads are required.
Designed for blind hole threading applications in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpieces requiring M1.7x0.35 Metric Coarse internal threads.
This tap is installed by machinists using a standard tap wrench or machine tapping setup; ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured before tapping. Power down or de-energize any machine tool before changing tooling. Use the appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material to extend tool life. Do not exceed the rated tapping depth to avoid tap breakage in blind holes.
