The OSG 1400119300 is a thread forming tap in the HY-PRO NRT series, designed for cold-form tapping of internal threads without cutting or chip generation. Manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright finish, this plug-style tap produces 10-24 UNC right-hand threads in through-hole applications. The H5 thread limit ensures consistent tolerance control across production runs. With an overall length of 2.375 inches and a tapping depth of 0.866 inches, it is suited for standard machine tapping setups. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians rely on this style of forming tap where thread strength and surface finish quality are priorities.
The 1400119300 is built for through-hole threading operations in a wide range of metals. Material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel, covering material application codes P and N. This makes it a practical selection for production machine shops, maintenance facilities, and toolrooms handling mixed-material workloads. Plug chamfer geometry with 4 to 4.5 chamfered threads provides a gradual lead-in, making it compatible with both CNC tapping centers and manual drill presses equipped with a tapping head.
Designed for through-hole threading in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, die steel, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpieces. Fits standard machine tap holders accepting a 0.194-inch shank diameter with a 0.152-inch square drive.
Thread forming taps require a specific forming tap drill size - not the same as a cutting tap drill size - so verify the correct pilot hole diameter before operation. Apply appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil for the workpiece material to reduce forming load and extend tap life. Secure the workpiece and ensure the tap is driven perpendicular to the work surface to avoid thread distortion or tap breakage. On CNC equipment, program spindle speed and feed rate per the tap manufacturer recommendations for the specific material being tapped.
