The OSG 1302000301 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 10-24 UNC internal threads in a range of common metals. It features a 45-degree helix angle that pulls chips up and out of the hole during threading, making it well suited for blind-hole applications where chip evacuation is critical. Built from high-speed steel with a steam oxide coating, this tap offers adequate lubricity and corrosion resistance for general shop use. The plug chamfer provides a gradual thread lead-in across several turns, distributing cutting load evenly. With an overall length of 2.375 inches and a shank diameter of 0.194 inches, it fits standard tap holders and chucks used by machinists, maintenance mechanics, and tool-and-die tradespeople.
This tap is intended for threading operations in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. It carries a Class 2B thread fit and an H3 thread limit, making it appropriate for standard tolerance fastener applications across general manufacturing, MRO maintenance, and fabrication environments. It is suited for use in CNC tapping centers, drill presses, and hand-tapping operations where a right-hand spiral flute tool is specified. Coolant-through is not supported on this tap.
Designed for cutting 10-24 UNC right-hand internal threads in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel workpieces. Compatible with standard tap holders and chucks accepting a 0.194-inch shank diameter.
This tap is installed by licensed machinists or qualified maintenance mechanics using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC rigid-tapping setup. Always secure the workpiece and ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the drilled hole before beginning. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Back the tap out periodically during hand operations to break and clear chips, especially in deeper blind holes.
