The OSG 1301301208 is a spiral flute bottoming tap designed for threading 7/16-20 UNF right-hand internal threads in production and maintenance machining operations. Built from vanadium high-speed steel with a TICN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tap delivers increased surface hardness and lubricity for extended tool life in demanding applications. The 3-flute spiral design pulls chips up and out of the hole, making it well-suited for blind-hole tapping. The bottoming chamfer allows threads to be cut close to the bottom of a blind bore. Overall length is 1.813 inches with a 15-degree helix angle. Coolant-through capability supports high-production use.
This tap is intended for use in machining operations involving alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, and die steel. The bottoming chamfer style makes it the right choice when thread engagement near the bottom of a blind hole is required, such as in close-tolerance fastener applications, component repair, and OEM production threading. It carries a 2B class of fit, the standard tolerance class for general-purpose UNF inch threads. The Series 13013 designation places it within OSG's established tap product family. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the typical end users.
Designed for cutting 7/16-20 UNF right-hand internal threads in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, cast iron, and die steel workpieces. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, tapping machines, and drill presses equipped for rigid or floating tap holders.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with tapping procedures and machine tool operation. Always secure the workpiece and verify spindle alignment before tapping to prevent tap breakage. Use the recommended cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maximize tool life and thread quality. Inspect the tap for wear or damage before each use and replace if chipping, dullness, or dimensional deviation is observed.
