The OSG 11624 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting M10x1.25 metric fine internal threads in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features 3 right-hand flutes with a 50-degree helix angle that efficiently evacuates chips up and out of the hole during through-hole and blind-hole tapping operations. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. With an overall length of 75 mm and an 18 mm thread length, this tap is sized for production and maintenance threading work on machine tools and hand-tap setups alike.
The OSG 11624 is suited for threading operations in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. The spiral flute geometry and 50-degree helix angle make it particularly effective in materials where chip packing in the flutes is a concern. It is used in manufacturing, maintenance and repair, and toolroom environments wherever M10x1.25 metric fine threads are required. The 2B class of fit produces threads within standard commercial tolerance, compatible with M10x1.25 metric fine fasteners and mating components.
Designed for use in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and high-carbon steel. Produces M10x1.25 metric fine, right-hand, 2B class of fit threads compatible with standard metric fine fasteners of that designation.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tapping machine, CNC machining center, or hand-tap wrench. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for M10x1.25 before tapping. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and never force a tap against resistance to avoid breakage.
