The OSG 11541315 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in tight-clearance and production environments. Built from high-speed steel with a coated finish, it carries a wire gauge size of 14, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.1820 inches (4.62 mm). The 120-degree faceted point geometry reduces thrust and improves centering on entry. At 2.68 inches overall length with a 24 mm flute, this short-length bit fits standard drill chucks and automatic screw machine spindles. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces cutting resistance, making it well-suited for production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This bit is rated for use on steel, alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces, covering a broad range of shop and field applications. The screw machine length format is commonly used in CNC drilling, turret lathes, automatic screw machines, and benchtop drill press setups where stub-length rigidity matters. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches) in diameter for secure seating in standard collets and keyless chucks.
Designed for use with steel, alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 1150.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool operator familiar with drill bit selection and machine setup. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always match spindle speed and feed rate to the workpiece material and bit diameter per standard machining tables. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection when operating drilling equipment.
