The OSG 1111503305 is a spiral point plug tap designed for threading M6x1.00 metric coarse holes in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. Manufactured from vanadium high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap delivers extended tool life and reduced friction compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The three-flute spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, making it well suited for through-hole tapping operations where chip evacuation is critical. Right-hand thread direction and a plug chamfer provide controlled entry and consistent thread form on production runs and repair work alike.
This tap is intended for use in through-hole applications across a broad spectrum of materials including aluminum, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, die steel, cast iron, high-nickel alloy, and titanium. It is a practical choice for machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die tradespeople working with M6 fastener threads in manufacturing, fabrication, and MRO environments. The compact overall length of 63.5 mm makes it compatible with standard tap holders and CNC rigid-tapping setups.
Designed for threading M6x1.00 metric coarse through-holes. Suitable for use with aluminum, hardened steel, stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, alloy steel, die steel, cast iron, high-nickel alloy, and titanium workpieces per OSG Series 11115 material application data.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC machine with rigid-tapping capability. Secure the workpiece and ensure the hole is drilled to the correct M6 tap-drill diameter before beginning the threading operation. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tap life. Do not reverse a broken tap without proper extraction tooling, and never exceed the tap's rated torque range for the workpiece material.
