The OSG 1046000 is a straight flute tap designed to cut internal threads in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this plug-chamfer tap produces 10-32 UNF right-hand threads to a 3B class of fit with an H2 thread limit. It features 3 flutes, an overall length of 2.375 inches, and a thread length of 0.875 inches. This tap is suited for machine tapping and hand tapping operations where a general-purpose plug chamfer is the appropriate starting geometry. Installation Notes

Secure the workpiece fully before tapping to prevent movement under cutting load. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material - sulfurized oil for steel, kerosene or light oil for aluminum - to extend tap life and improve thread finish. Align the tap squarely with the drilled hole before applying torque; misalignment is the leading cause of tap breakage with small-diameter taps. When tapping by hand, periodically reverse direction to break and clear chips.
