The OSG 10213005 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in steel and alloy steel applications. It measures 0.213 inches (Wire Size 3, 5.41 mm) in diameter with a 130-degree split point and an R-thinned web for reduced thrust and easier center-starting. Constructed from cobalt high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit resists heat and wear in demanding production environments. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard drill chucks or quick-change holders. Machinists and metalworking tradespeople rely on this Series 1000 bit for short, rigid setups where tool deflection must be minimized.
This bit is suited for screw machine work, CNC drilling, and bench-drill applications targeting steel and alloy steel workpieces. The screw machine (stub) length format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it the preferred choice in turret lathes, screw machines, and close-tolerance drilling fixtures. With a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration, chip evacuation remains efficient in through-hole and blind-hole operations at production feed rates.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production drill bit for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and bench drill presses accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.2000 to 0.2500 inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or metalworking technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or holder bore is clean and free of debris to maintain concentricity within the stated diameter tolerance of +0 to -0.018 mm. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for feed rates and speeds appropriate to cobalt high speed steel tooling in steel alloy materials.
