The OSG 1008100 is a straight flute bottoming tap designed for threading 6-32 UNC holes in a range of metallic materials. With 2 flutes and a bright, uncoated high-speed steel construction, it produces right-hand internal threads in blind holes where full thread depth near the bottom of the bore is required. The H1 thread limit provides tight tolerance control, making it suitable for precision threading applications. At 2 inches overall length with an 11/16-inch thread length, it fits standard tap holders and chucks used in manual and machine tapping setups.
This tap is intended for production and maintenance threading operations across light manufacturing, machining, and metal fabrication environments. The bottoming chamfer geometry allows threads to be cut closer to the bottom of a blind hole than plug or taper chamfer taps, making it the final step in a two- or three-tap sequence. It is suited for use in drill press, CNC, or hand-tapping operations on the material types listed below.
Designed for tapping 6-32 UNC threads in aluminum, cast aluminum, cast iron, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. Compatible with standard tap holders sized for a 0.141-inch shank diameter.
Machining professionals and maintenance technicians install straight flute taps using a drill press, tapping head, CNC machine, or hand tap wrench. Always use an appropriately sized tap drill to achieve the correct minor diameter before tapping. Apply a suitable cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Secure the workpiece fully before starting to prevent movement that can break the tap.
