The ORTRONICS LN-SFP10G-AOC-4M is an active optical cable (AOC) designed for 10 Gigabit Ethernet and high-speed data center interconnect applications. AOC assemblies integrate SFP+ transceivers directly into each end of a fiber cable, eliminating the need for separate modules and copper patch cables. This unit is MSA-compatible, meaning it conforms to the Small Form-factor Pluggable industry standard for electrical and mechanical interoperability. Network technicians and structured cabling installers are the primary trades handling this product.
This cable is suited for short-reach, high-bandwidth links inside data centers, server rooms, and enterprise network closets. The 4-meter length accommodates top-of-rack to end-of-row switching runs and intra-rack connections where copper direct-attach cables fall short on signal integrity. The AOC form factor keeps power consumption low compared to active copper alternatives while maintaining full 10G throughput across the link.
Designed as an MSA-compliant SFP+ active optical cable for use in standard SFP+ port equipment including 10G switches, host bus adapters, and network interface cards that accept MSA SFP+ modules.
Installation is performed by qualified network technicians or low-voltage cabling installers. Power down or disable the relevant switch port before seating or removing the SFP+ connector to prevent hot-plug damage where the equipment does not support hot-swap. Handle fiber ends carefully and keep dust caps in place until the moment of insertion. Follow applicable structured cabling standards such as ANSI/TIA-568 for data center and horizontal cabling runs.
