The ORTRONICS HDJ5E-78 is a Category 5e high-density keystone jack designed for structured cabling installations in commercial and residential network environments. Built to support T568A and T568B wiring configurations, this jack provides the flexibility installers need when terminating horizontal copper runs to patch panels, wall plates, or surface-mount housings. It is a single-port, punch-down style connector suited for 100 MHz Cat5e network infrastructure. Low-voltage technicians and network cabling contractors are the primary installers. The dual wiring option reduces the need to stock separate A and B variants on a job site.
This jack is intended for use in structured cabling deployments including office networks, data centers, school campuses, and hospitality or multi-dwelling unit wiring projects. It fits standard keystone-style mounting formats common to patch panels and modular wall plates. The T568A/B dual-compatibility makes it appropriate for both new construction pulls and retrofit or move-add-change work where existing wiring standards on site may vary.

Installation should be performed by a qualified low-voltage technician familiar with TIA-568 structured cabling standards. De-energize any powered patch panels or PoE switches before terminating conductors. Use a 110-style punch-down impact tool to seat conductors; avoid untwisting more than 0.5 inches of pair at the termination point to maintain Cat5e performance. Follow local low-voltage wiring codes and TIA-568 color-code diagrams when selecting T568A or T568B wiring scheme for a given project.
