The ORTRONICS AC1068 is an 8-port Cat6 network interface panel designed for structured cabling installations in commercial and residential data networks. It provides a centralized termination point for horizontal Cat6 cabling runs, allowing network technicians to organize and manage patch connections between wall outlets and active network equipment. The panel supports Cat6 performance standards, making it suitable for Gigabit Ethernet and other high-speed data applications. Licensed low-voltage and data cabling professionals are the typical installers for this type of device.
The AC1068 is used in telecommunications rooms, server closets, and structured wiring enclosures where horizontal cable runs need to be terminated and patched to switching equipment. It fits standard 19-inch rack and patch panel enclosure installations and is appropriate for office builds, school networks, hospitality environments, and light industrial data infrastructure projects requiring organized Cat6 termination.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for Cat6 and Cat6A patch panel installations in rack-mount structured cabling environments.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or data cabling technician in accordance with TIA-568 structured cabling standards. De-energize all connected active equipment before terminating cables at the panel. Use a 110-style punch-down tool for proper conductor termination and avoid untwisting cable pairs beyond the minimum required for termination to maintain Cat6 performance. Secure the panel to the rack or enclosure before completing final cable dressing.
