The OPTICAL CABLE CORP. RFC-LC5 is an LC-style fiber optic connector designed for use with 250 micrometer and 900 micrometer buffered fiber. It is built for OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber applications, supporting high-bandwidth structured cabling installations. The connector is sold individually and is suited for field termination tasks where a compact, low-profile LC form factor is required. Network technicians and low-voltage cabling contractors use this connector when building or repairing multimode fiber runs in data centers, commercial buildings, and campus networks.
The RFC-LC5 is intended for multimode fiber termination in both 250 micrometer bare fiber and 900 micrometer tight-buffered configurations. It is appropriate for OM3 and OM4 fiber types, which are commonly used in 10G, 40G, and 100G ethernet backbone and horizontal runs. Typical applications include patch panel terminations, equipment room cabling, and field repairs on installed multimode fiber infrastructure.
Designed as an OEM-style field termination connector for OM3 and OM4 multimode fiber with 250 micrometer or 900 micrometer buffer diameters, fitting standard LC-compatible adapters and patch panels.
Installation is performed by qualified low-voltage cabling technicians or fiber optic splicing crews. Proper fiber preparation, including cleaving and polishing, is required before seating the fiber in the connector body. Follow TIA-568 and manufacturer termination procedures for insertion loss compliance. Always inspect and clean ferrule end-faces with appropriate fiber optic cleaning tools before mating.
