The OPTEX OP-08CW is a white request-to-exit (REX) sensor designed for access control applications operating on 12 or 24 volts. REX sensors detect motion near a controlled door and trigger an egress signal without requiring physical contact, allowing occupants to exit a secured area cleanly. The OP-08CW mounts in a Frame C configuration and is suited for installation above door frames at commercial and light-industrial access points. Licensed low-voltage technicians and access control installers are the primary tradespeople working with this device.
This sensor is used in access control systems where a touchless exit trigger is required at an electrically secured door. Typical applications include office entryways, server room exits, retail back-of-house doors, and any controlled opening where a push-button exit device is not preferred. The Frame C form factor makes it compatible with standard door frame trim installations. It operates on 12 or 24 volts DC, making it adaptable to a wide range of access control panel power supplies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation REX sensor for access control systems requiring a Frame C form factor with 12 or 24 volt input.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage technician in accordance with applicable local codes and NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements. Power down the access control panel before wiring the sensor to avoid damage to the panel or the device. Mount the sensor above the door per the manufacturer data sheet to ensure the detection zone covers the intended egress area. Verify door latch release timing and sensor dwell time at the panel after installation.
