The OPTEX OP-08CBL is a passive infrared request-to-exit sensor designed for access control applications in commercial and light industrial facilities. Operating on 12 or 24 volts DC, this ceiling-mount unit detects occupant motion in the monitored zone and triggers a door release signal, allowing egress without manual contact with a push button or crash bar. The black finish integrates cleanly into drop-ceiling and hard-lid ceiling environments. Licensed security integrators and access control technicians are the primary installers of this device.
The OP-08CBL is suited for interior doorways where touchless egress is required, including office suites, server rooms, data centers, and secured corridors. Ceiling mounting positions the sensor directly above the door opening to capture motion in the exit path and minimize false triggers from adjacent traffic lanes. The black housing blends with dark ceiling tiles and grid systems commonly found in commercial office builds.
Designed as an OEM-style ceiling-mount PIR request-to-exit sensor compatible with standard 12 or 24 volt DC access control panels and door release systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed access control or low-voltage security technician in accordance with applicable local codes and NFPA 731. Disconnect and lock out power to the access control panel before wiring the sensor. Mount the unit to the ceiling directly above the door opening, following the manufacturer data sheet for recommended coverage area and mounting height. Verify correct polarity and voltage selection before restoring power and testing the egress zone.
