The ONSRUD 67-216 is a downcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide for precision routing in phenolic and similar composite sheet materials. It features a 0.5 inch cutter diameter, a 2.125 inch length of cut, and a three-edge flute geometry with a 10-degree right-hand helix. The downcut spiral direction drives chips upward against the cut surface, suppressing tearout on the top face of the workpiece. At 4.5 inches overall length with a 0.5 inch shank diameter and a 2.375 inch shank length, this bit mounts securely in standard collet systems. It carries no coating and is suited for dry machining applications where surface finish on the show face is the priority.
This bit is designed for use in CNC routing operations on phenolic laminates, high-pressure laminates, and comparable hard composite panel materials. It is appropriate for production shop environments where consistent edge quality on the top surface of nested or fixtured parts is required. The downcut geometry makes it a common choice for sign fabrication, industrial fabrication, and panel processing applications where laminate delamination or fiber pullout must be controlled. Licensed CNC operators and skilled machine operators in woodworking and composites shops are the typical end users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct fitment for CNC routers equipped with a standard 0.5 inch collet. Part of the ONSRUD 67-200 series. Rated for phenolic material applications per manufacturer specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Insert the shank to the full collet engagement depth and torque the collet nut to the router manufacturer's specification using the appropriate collet wrenches. Inspect the bit for chipping or runout before resuming production. Follow applicable shop safety protocols for rotating cutting tools and eye protection.
