The ONSRUD 66-327 is a solid carbide spiral upcut router bit engineered for precision routing in aluminum and plastics. With a 0.5-inch cutter diameter, a 0.875-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this bit evacuates chips aggressively from the cut zone, reducing heat buildup and improving surface finish in non-ferrous and thermoplastic materials. The right-hand cutting direction and upcut flute geometry pull chips upward and out of the workpiece, making it well suited for through-cuts and slotting operations where chip clearance is critical. CNC router operators and tooling technicians are the primary users.
This bit is intended for use in CNC router applications involving aluminum sheet and plate, acrylic, HDPE, PVC, and similar plastics. The bottom-surfacing router style and uncoated solid carbide construction make it a reliable choice for production environments where consistent tool performance and part repeatability matter. It fits standard 1/2-inch collet systems, with a 2.125-inch shank length providing adequate grip depth in most spindle configurations. The 3-inch overall length suits typical CNC router table setups without excessive overhang.
Designed for use in CNC routers equipped with a 1/2-inch collet; material applications include aluminum and plastics per manufacturer specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Insert the shank to the full recommended collet engagement depth and torque the collet nut per the router manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the collet and nut for wear before seating the bit, as a worn collet can cause runout that damages both the tool and the workpiece. Always verify spindle speed settings are appropriate for the material and cutter diameter before resuming operation.
