The ONSRUD 64-012 is a downcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide for use in CNC routing and handheld router applications. It features a 0.125 inch cutter diameter, a 0.5 inch length of cut, and a 1/4 inch shank diameter with a 1.5 inch shank length, yielding a 2 inch overall length. The single-edge, right-hand cutting geometry combined with a 21-degree helix angle and downcut flute direction pushes chips toward the workpiece surface, reducing top-side tearout and fiber lifting. This bit is uncoated and ships individually. Installation is performed by machining professionals and skilled woodworkers operating CNC routers or handheld routing equipment.
This bit is suited for finish-quality routing in aluminum, plastics, solid surfaces, and wood where surface quality on the top face of the material is the priority. The downcut geometry makes it a common choice for laminated panels, veneered sheet goods, and soft plastics where delamination or burring at the entry edge is a concern. It is part of the ONSRUD 64-000 series and is sized for standard 1/4 inch collet systems found on most production and benchtop CNC routers.
Designed for use in CNC routers and handheld routers equipped with a 1/4 inch collet. Rated for aluminum, plastics, solid surfaces, and wood applications per manufacturer specifications.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, CNC technicians, or experienced woodworking professionals. Power down and de-energize the router spindle fully before changing tooling, and verify collet torque per the router manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the shank is fully seated in the collet with no less than the minimum engagement depth specified by the router manufacturer. At 0.125 inch diameter, this is a small-diameter bit - feed rates and depth-of-cut must be dialed conservatively to avoid deflection or breakage.
