The ONSRUD 63-780 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit engineered for clean material removal in plastic fabrication and machining applications. With a 0.375-inch cutter diameter and a 0.625-inch length of cut, this single-edge bit provides controlled chip evacuation by pulling material up and away from the workpiece. The right-hand cutting direction and 21-degree helix angle work together to reduce heat buildup and minimize edge chipping on thermoplastics. The uncoated solid carbide construction delivers the sharp edge retention that plastic routing demands. Shank diameter is 3/8 inch, making it compatible with standard router collets used in CNC and handheld routing setups. Licensed trades and skilled fabricators rely on this geometry for production-quality edges in demanding material applications.
This bit is designed for routing a wide range of thermoplastics and engineered plastic sheet materials in production and fabrication environments. Typical applications include profile cutting, slotting, and full-depth passes on plastic sheet stock. The upcut flute geometry is well suited to CNC router tables where chip clearance and surface finish are priorities. It performs across both light-duty fabrication shops and higher-volume production cells cutting flat plastic sheet.
Designed for use in ABS, Acetal, Acrylic, HDPE, HIPS, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. Part of the ONSRUD 63-750 series.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or experienced fabricators familiar with router tooling. Before changing or setting bits, ensure the router spindle is fully powered down and any CNC control is in an e-stop or tool-change state. Seat the shank fully into the collet to the recommended engagement depth and torque the collet nut per the router manufacturer specifications. Inspect the bit for edge chipping or cracking before each use and do not operate a damaged bit.
