The ONSRUD 63-620 is a single-edge upcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide for cutting aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. With a 0.25-inch cutter diameter, a 0.375-inch length of cut, and a 2-inch overall length, this bit is designed for precise, shallow-profile routing passes where chip evacuation and edge quality matter. The upcut flute geometry pulls chips up and out of the cut, reducing heat buildup at the tool tip. A 22-degree helix angle supports smooth shearing action through soft metals. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and handheld router spindle rotation.
This bit is suited for CNC routing of aluminum sheet, plate, and extrusions in fabrication, sign-making, and light manufacturing environments. The 1/4-inch shank diameter fits standard 1/4-inch router collets commonly found on CNC routers and fixed-base routers. The 1.625-inch shank length provides adequate grip depth for most collet assemblies. Solid carbide construction offers better rigidity and edge retention than high-speed steel when running aluminum at typical CNC feed rates and spindle speeds.
Designed for use in 1/4-inch router collets on CNC routers and handheld routers; part of the ONSRUD 63-600 series of single-edge upcut spiral bits optimized for aluminum material applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Insert the shank to the full recommended collet engagement depth and torque the collet nut per the router or spindle manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production runs when tight tolerances are required.
