The ONSRUD 63-612 is a single-edge upcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide and designed for cutting aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. The upcut flute geometry pulls chips up and out of the cut, reducing heat buildup and keeping the work surface clear. With a cutter diameter of 0.1875 inches, a 0.375 inches length of cut, and a 3/16 inches shank diameter, this bit is suited for light-profiling and slotting passes where a clean, chip-free finish is required. The 22-degree helix angle balances chip evacuation with edge stability. CNC router operators and machining technicians are the primary installers and users of this tooling.
This bit is built for CNC routing applications involving aluminum stock, sheet, and extrusion. The 63-612 belongs to the ONSRUD 63-600 series, a line engineered specifically for non-ferrous metal cutting. Its compact geometry makes it appropriate for narrow slot work, profiling, and detail cuts on aluminum panels and components where a larger tool would not fit. The right-hand cutting direction and upcut flute style are standard for conventional milling passes on vertical CNC platforms.
Designed for CNC routers accepting a 3/16 inches shank collet. Material application is aluminum as specified for the ONSRUD 63-600 series. Not piloted.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the CNC spindle fully powered down and the machine in an e-stop or locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into a clean, correctly sized collet before torquing to the spindle manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and can fracture if run with a pre-existing edge defect. Feed rate and spindle speed should be set per the material and tool diameter - do not exceed the bit manufacturer's recommended parameters for aluminum.
