The ONSRUD 63-602 is a single-edge upcut spiral router bit ground from solid carbide and intended for precision routing of aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. The cutter measures 0.0625 inches (1/16 inch) in diameter with a length of cut of 0.25 inches and a 1/8-inch shank diameter. The 22-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in an upcut direction, pulling chips away from the workpiece and reducing heat buildup at the cutting edge. At 1.5 inches overall length and 1.25 inches of usable shank, this bit is sized for small-diameter detail work on CNC routers and manual router tables operated by machining technicians and tooling specialists.
This bit is optimized for aluminum machining applications where clean chip removal and edge quality are critical. The single-edge geometry reduces cutting forces on thin-walled or delicate aluminum stock, making it well suited for engraving, profiling, and slotting operations on sheet aluminum, extrusions, and similar soft non-ferrous workpieces. The right-hand cutting direction and uncoated solid carbide construction are appropriate for high-speed passes where coolant or air blast is used to manage chip load and tool temperature.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide spiral router bit for use in CNC routers and manual router tables accepting a 1/8-inch shank collet, primarily applied to aluminum and comparable non-ferrous materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the bit from the collet. Insert the shank to the full recommended collet engagement depth and torque the collet nut per the router or spindle manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production use, as runout on a 0.0625-inch diameter cutter accelerates edge wear and can cause tool breakage.
