The ONSRUD 62-790 is a single-edge, downcut spiral router bit manufactured from solid carbide for cutting a wide range of plastic materials. The downcut helix - cut at a 21-degree helix angle - directs chips downward during the cut, suppressing surface tear-out on the top face of the workpiece and producing clean, burr-free edges on sheet plastics. It carries a 0.5-inch cutter diameter and a 1.625-inch length of cut, mounted on a 0.5-inch shank. This bit is uncoated and ground for right-hand cutting direction. It is sized and specified for professional CNC router use in fabrication and production environments.
The 62-790 is designed for routing thermoplastics and engineered plastics commonly processed on CNC routing tables in sign shops, fabrication shops, and plastic component production lines. Approved material applications include ABS, Acetal, Acrylic, HDPE, HIPS, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. The downcut geometry is especially useful when surface finish on the entry face is critical or when the workpiece cannot be securely clamped flat without risk of lifting. Part of the ONSRUD 62-750 series.
Rated for use in ABS, Acetal, Acrylic, HDPE, HIPS, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. Fits any CNC or handheld router accepting a 0.5-inch shank collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or tool setter. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Insert the shank fully into the collet to the minimum engagement depth specified by the router manufacturer - never run a bit with insufficient shank engagement. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being cut before beginning a production run.
