The ONSRUD 62-768 is a downcut single-edge spiral router bit engineered for precision cutting in plastic materials. Built from solid carbide, it delivers clean top-surface finishes by directing chips downward during the cut, which reduces delamination and fraying on the workpiece face. The bit measures 0.1875 inches in cutter diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut and a 2-inch overall length. The 1/4-inch shank diameter fits standard router collets used in CNC routing equipment. With a 21-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting direction, it is optimized for controlled, consistent material removal in production and fabrication environments.
This bit is intended for use in CNC routers and high-speed spindle equipment processing thermoplastics and engineered plastic sheet goods. Covered material applications include ABS, Acetal, Acrylic, HDPE, HIPS, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. It is well suited to sign shops, plastic fabricators, and production facilities routing parts from flat sheet stock where clean top-surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The uncoated solid carbide construction is appropriate for these non-ferrous, abrasion-moderate materials without requiring a specialized edge coating.
Designed for use with ABS, Acetal, Acrylic, HDPE, HIPS, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. Part of the ONSRUD 62-750 series of downcut spiral router bits for plastics. Fits any router collet accepting a 1/4-inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or tooling technician with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Ensure the 1/4-inch shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the collet according to the router manufacturer's collet specifications before operation. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tooling can micro-fracture if mishandled. Do not use this bit on ferrous metals, hardwoods, or composites containing abrasive fibers, as the geometry and edge preparation are optimized specifically for plastics.
