The ONSRUD 62-763 is a single-edge downcut spiral router bit designed for clean, controlled cutting in plastic and composite sheet materials. Built from solid carbide, it features a 0.125-inch cutter diameter, a 0.5-inch length of cut, and a right-hand cutting direction with a 21-degree helix angle. The downcut flute geometry pushes chips toward the workpiece surface, reducing top-face tearout and fraying - a critical advantage when routing plastics that chip or melt under poor chip evacuation. Licensed CNC programmers and tooling technicians specify this bit for high-precision plastic routing operations.
This bit is intended for use in CNC routers and machining centers processing thermoplastic sheet goods. Confirmed compatible material applications include ABS, Acetal, Acrylic, HDPE, HIPS, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. With a 1/8-inch shank diameter and 1.5-inch shank length, it fits standard 1/8-inch collets. It belongs to the ONSRUD 62-750 series, which is purpose-built for non-ferrous and plastic routing applications where surface finish quality matters.
Confirmed material applications: ABS, Acetal, Acrylic, HDPE, HIPS, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. Fits any CNC router or spindle equipped with a 1/8-inch collet. Part of the ONSRUD 62-750 series.
Install in a clean, properly sized 1/8-inch collet and tighten to the spindle manufacturer's specified torque range - do not over-tighten or use a worn collet, as runout will shorten tool life and degrade cut quality. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify collet and tool shank are free of chips or coolant residue before seating the bit. Downcut bits generate upward chip pressure, so workpiece hold-down fixturing must be secure to prevent lifting during the cut.
