The ONSRUD 62-727 is a single-edge downcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide for use in CNC and hand-held routing applications on hard plastics and solid surfaces. The downcut helix controls chip ejection by pushing material downward, which reduces surface tearout on the top face of the workpiece. This bit carries a 0.25 inch cutter diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length. The 21-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting direction are matched to the demands of clean-edge profiling and slotting work on thermoplastics and composites. Installation is performed by machinists, CNC operators, and skilled routing tradespeople.
This bit is suited for routing acrylic, nylon, PVC, polycarbonate, and solid surface materials in fabrication shop and light industrial environments. The downcut geometry makes it particularly effective when a clean top surface finish is the priority, such as when routing laminate-faced panels or clear acrylic sheet. The 1/4 inch shank diameter fits standard 1/4 inch router collets used in both CNC spindles and portable routers. The uncoated solid carbide construction handles the abrasive nature of hard plastic stock without the added complexity of coated tooling.
Compatible with routers and CNC spindles equipped with a 1/4 inch collet. Designed for cutting acrylic, nylon, PVC, polycarbonate, and solid surface workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer. Part of the ONSRUD 62-700 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or machinist. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Insert the shank fully into the collet to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth and tighten the collet nut with the appropriate collet wrench - do not use substitute tools. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the specific workpiece material before beginning the cut.
