The ONSRUD 62-624 is a single-edge downcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide and designed for cutting aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. With a 0.25-inch cutter diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length, this bit is sized for precision profiling and edge-finishing work where controlled chip evacuation and surface quality matter. The downcut flute geometry drives chips toward the workpiece surface, reducing top-edge tearout and keeping parts securely seated during the cut. The 22-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting direction are optimized for clean entry and consistent tool engagement in aluminum stock.
This router bit is suited for CNC routing applications in fabrication shops, sign shops, and light manufacturing environments where aluminum sheet, plate, or extrusion work is common. The 0.25-inch shank fits standard 1/4-inch collet systems, and the 1.75-inch shank length provides adequate grip depth in most CNC spindle setups. It is well-matched to single-pass profiling cuts, pocketing operations, and contour routing where a clean top surface finish is the primary requirement.
Designed for use in CNC routers and routing equipment equipped with a standard 1/4-inch collet. Optimized for aluminum as the primary material application per manufacturer specification in the ONSRUD 62-600 series.
Installation and bit changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the shank to the full recommended collet depth and torque the collet nut to the router manufacturer's specification before operation. Inspect the bit for chips or edge damage before each use, as carbide tooling can fracture if run with existing micro-cracks. Follow all applicable shop safety standards for rotating tooling and workpiece fixturing.
