The ONSRUD 62-622 is a solid carbide downcut spiral router bit engineered for clean, chip-free cuts in aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials. With a 0.25-inch cutter diameter and a 0.75-inch length of cut, it delivers precise material removal in CNC routing and handheld router applications. The downcut flute geometry drives chips downward, which minimizes surface tearout and keeps the top face of the workpiece clean. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.25-inch shank, this single-edge bit fits standard router collets and suits shops running tight-tolerance aluminum plate or sheet work.
This bit is suited for CNC machining centers and routing fixtures processing aluminum sheet, plate, and extrusions. The right-hand cutting direction and 22-degree helix angle are optimized for clean edge quality in aluminum. The single-edge design reduces cutting forces, which is an advantage in light-duty fixturing or thin-wall aluminum profiles. It is typically installed and operated by machining professionals, CNC programmers, and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in CNC routers and handheld routers equipped with a 1/4-inch collet. Material application per manufacturer specification is aluminum. Part of the ONSRUD 62-600 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machining technician or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Insert the shank fully into the collet to the recommended engagement depth and torque the collet nut to the router or spindle manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, and confirm feed rate and spindle speed settings are appropriate for the material and cut depth.
