The ONSRUD 61-122 is a single-edge, straight-flute router bit designed for high-quality cuts in hard plastics and engineered thermoplastics. Built from solid carbide, it features a 3/8 inch cutter diameter, a 7/8 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch shank diameter with an overall length of 2.5 inches. The square end geometry and right-hand cut direction produce clean, flat-bottomed slots and profiles. This bit is part of the ONSRUD 61-000P series and is intended for use in CNC routers and manual routing applications where precise material removal in plastic substrates is required. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically handles installation and setup.
This router bit is engineered specifically for cutting hard plastic materials. Suitable applications include fabrication of extruded acrylic panels, HDPE sheet work, polycarbonate, PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and UHMW stock. The single-flute design allows efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup that can cause melting or smearing on thermoplastic workpieces. It is well-suited for both production CNC environments and bench-top routing tasks where clean edge quality in plastic is the priority.
Designed for use on extruded acrylic, HDPE, hard plastics, polyvinylchloride, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and UHMW. Part of the ONSRUD 61-000P series. Fits routers accepting a 3/8 inch collet.
Install and adjustments should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Always power down and de-energize the router spindle completely before inserting or removing the bit. Ensure the collet and collet nut are clean and undamaged before seating the shank, and tighten to the router manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate collet wrench. Set feed rate and spindle speed appropriate for the specific plastic being cut to avoid thermal damage to the workpiece edge.
