The ONSRUD 61-081 is a single-edge, straight-flute router bit engineered for clean, precise cuts in hard plastics and similar materials. The bit features a 1/4-inch cutter diameter, a 3/8-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length. Constructed from solid carbide, it delivers the hardness and edge retention required for demanding thermoplastic applications. The square end geometry produces flat-bottomed cuts, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and through-cutting operations. This bit is designed to be installed and operated by CNC machinists and skilled toolroom personnel familiar with routing hard materials.
This router bit is intended for use on CNC routers and manual routing equipment where single-edge geometry and right-hand cutting direction are specified. Material applications include extruded acrylic, HDPE, hard plastics, polyvinylchloride (PVC), polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and UHMW. The 1/4-inch shank diameter fits standard collets commonly found on production and benchtop routing equipment. It is used in both light production and fabrication shop environments where consistent chip evacuation and surface finish are priorities.
Designed for use on extruded acrylic, HDPE, hard plastics, polyvinylchloride, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and UHMW. Part of the ONSRUD 61-000P series. Fits 1/4-inch collets on standard CNC and manual routing equipment.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machining personnel with the spindle fully de-energized and locked out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet and collet nut are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify that spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the specific plastic being cut before starting the operation. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the 3/8-inch length of cut to avoid deflection or tool breakage.
