The ONSRUD 60-278 is a downcut solid carbide spiral router bit designed for clean, controlled cuts in wood, plastics, composite plastics, and solid surfaces. With a 0.75 inch cutter diameter and a 3.125 inch length of cut, this bit removes material efficiently while the downcut flute geometry pushes chips downward, reducing tearout and surface lifting on the top face of the workpiece. The three-edge router style and 10-degree helix angle contribute to smooth cutting action across a range of sheet and panel materials. Weighing 1.1 pounds, this is a full-size production-grade bit suited for CNC router applications.
The 60-278 is intended for use in CNC routers handling composite plastics, natural wood, plastics, and solid surfaces in both shop and industrial production environments. The downcut configuration makes it particularly well suited for applications where top-face finish quality is critical, such as laminate panels, veneered sheet goods, and solid surface materials. The 0.75 inch shank diameter and 2.875 inch shank length provide stable tool holding in standard collet chuck setups. This bit is installed and operated by CNC machinists, cabinet shop technicians, and trade professionals running production routing equipment.
Designed for use in CNC routers and routing equipment accepting a 0.75 inch shank diameter collet. Rated for material applications including composite plastics, natural wood, plastics, and solid surfaces as specified by ONSRUD for the 60-200 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or router operator. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the bit from the collet. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet is torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification before operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each production run and follow applicable shop safety protocols for rotating cutting tools.
