The ONSRUD 60-252 is a downcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide and designed for clean, chip-free top-surface cuts in composite plastics, natural wood, plastics, and solid surfaces. The bit measures 0.5 inches in cutter diameter with a 2.125-inch length of cut and a 4.5-inch overall length. Its three-edge, right-hand cutting geometry paired with a 10-degree helix angle drives chips downward, minimizing surface tearout on the workpiece face. The 0.5-inch shank seats securely in standard collets. This is a production-grade cutting tool intended for use by CNC router operators and experienced woodworking and plastics fabrication professionals.
The 60-252 is well suited for routing operations in sheet goods, solid surface panels, composite laminates, and natural wood stock where top-surface finish quality is a priority. The downcut flute direction makes it particularly effective in applications where workpiece lifting or delamination is a concern, such as routing veneered panels, melamine-coated sheet goods, or layered composite materials. It is a practical choice for production CNC environments and custom fabrication shops running continuous routing cycles.
Designed for use in material applications including composite plastics, natural wood, plastics, and solid surfaces. Part of the ONSRUD 60-200 series. Fits any router or CNC spindle accepting a 0.5-inch shank collet.
Install and remove router bits only with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Insert the shank fully into the collet and tighten to the collet manufacturer's specified torque range using the correct collet wrench - never use an open-flame or impact method. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and replace the bit if edge integrity is compromised. Downcut bits increase downward axial force on the workpiece, so ensure adequate workholding or vacuum fixture pressure before beginning a cut.
