The ONSRUD 57-240 is a downcut spiral router bit machined from solid carbide for use in CNC routing and hand-held router applications. It features a 0.125 inch cutter diameter, a 0.5 inch length of cut, and a 1/4 inch shank diameter with a 1.5 inch shank length, yielding a 2 inch overall length. The double-edge, right-hand cutting geometry with a 30-degree helix angle produces clean, burr-free top surfaces by driving chips downward into the workpiece. CNC operators, woodworkers, and composite fabricators install this bit for precision cuts in tight-tolerance applications.
The ONSRUD 57-240 is designed for routing natural wood, solid surfaces, and wood composites. Its small 0.125 inch diameter makes it well suited for narrow slot cuts, detail work, and fine profiling passes where larger bits cannot maneuver. The downcut flute geometry helps prevent surface tearout and delamination on veneered panels, laminates, and composite sheet goods, making it a practical choice for cabinet shops, sign makers, and fabricators running production CNC tables.
Designed for use in routers and CNC spindles accepting a 1/4 inch shank. Rated for natural wood, solid surfaces, and wood composites per manufacturer material application data. Part of the ONSRUD 57-200 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the router or spindle before inserting or removing the bit. Seat the shank fully into the collet and tighten to the router or spindle manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate collet wrench. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and replace the bit if damage is detected.
