The ONSRUD 52-724 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for high-quality cutting in thermoplastics and engineered plastics. Part of the 52-700 series, it features a double-edge geometry with a 22-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting direction. The upcut flute design pulls chips up and out of the cut, reducing recutting and heat buildup at the tool tip. With a 3/4 inch cutter diameter and 2.5 inch length of cut, this bit handles both shallow and moderate-depth passes in a variety of plastic substrates. Licensed machinists and CNC routing professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This bit is suited for CNC router applications in fabrication shops, sign shops, and plastics manufacturing environments. It performs in both production and prototype settings where clean edge quality and chip evacuation are priorities. The uncoated solid carbide construction is well matched to the abrasion levels typical of the listed material applications.
Rated for use in ABS, Acetal, Extruded Acrylic, Foam, HDPE, Nylon, PE, PET, Polycarbonate, Soft Plastics, Solid Surfaces, and UHMW. Fits any CNC router or handheld router accepting a 3/4 inch shank collet.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the router spindle fully powered down and locked out per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet and collet nut are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Insert the shank to full depth and torque the collet nut according to the router manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production use when tight tolerances are required.
