The ONSRUD 52-714 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for high-efficiency material removal in plastic and soft solid-surface applications. With a 0.625-inch cutter diameter, a 2.25-inch length of cut, and a 5-inch overall length, this bit handles deep-profile passes in a single setup. The 22-degree helix angle and double-edge flute geometry promote chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup at the cutting zone. Right-hand cutting direction suits standard CNC router spindle configurations. It ships uncoated and is ready to run as received. Woodworkers, plastics fabricators, and CNC operators in sign shops and millwork operations are the primary users.
This bit is engineered for use on CNC routers processing thermoplastics and engineered solid surfaces. Material applications include ABS, acetal, extruded acrylic, foam, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, soft plastics, solid surfaces, and UHMW. The 5/8-inch shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard ER or collet-style CNC spindles. The 2.75-inch shank length gives adequate grip depth for most tool-holder configurations. Typical applications include profile cutting, pocket routing, and full-depth slotting in plastic sheet stock and panel materials.
Designed for use with CNC routers equipped with 5/8-inch collet or tool-holder systems. Compatible material applications per manufacturer specification include ABS, acetal, extruded acrylic, foam, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, soft plastics, solid surfaces, and UHMW. Part of the ONSRUD 52-700 series.
Installation is performed by CNC setup technicians or machine operators. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the bit. Seat the shank fully into the collet to the recommended engagement depth per the tool-holder manufacturer. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before production runs, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades cut quality on precision plastic parts.
