The ONSRUD 52-704 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for precision cutting of thermoplastics and soft materials. Built as a double-edge, right-hand cutting tool, it features a 22-degree helix angle that pulls chips upward and away from the workpiece, reducing heat buildup and improving cut quality. The 0.5-inch cutter diameter pairs with a 1.75-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for through-cuts and pocketing operations in sheet goods. This bit is intended for use by CNC operators, fabricators, and production shops working with plastic materials.
The 52-704 is optimized for routing a wide range of thermoplastics and engineered materials. Typical applications include CNC routing of ABS, acetal, extruded acrylic, foam, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, soft plastics, solid surfaces, and UHMW. It performs well in both single-pass and multi-pass operations on flat sheet stock, and fits standard 1/2-inch collet CNC routers commonly used in sign shops, plastic fabrication, and light industrial production environments.
Designed for use with CNC routers equipped with a 1/2-inch collet. Rated for ABS, acetal, extruded acrylic, foam, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, soft plastics, solid surfaces, and UHMW material applications as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or tooling technician. Ensure the router spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing bits. Insert the shank to the full recommended depth in the collet and torque the collet nut per the router manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the bit for chipping or wear before each use and do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the material being cut.
